SPTEdb is a collective and comprehensive database of transposable elements (TEs) in the genomes of salicaceous plants.
Transposable elements (TEs) are the most abundant component of all characterized genomes of higher eukaryotes, and contribute to the structure, function and evolution of its host gene and genome.
Salicaceae consist of 650 species in the world and is divided into 3 genera, Chosenia Nakai, Populus L. and Salix L. The genome of several salicaceous plants has now been sequenced. Using the genome sequences of published, we constructed a comprehensive and user-friendly web-based database, SPTEdb. We hope this database will contribute to the studies for salicaceous plants TEs biology and domestication dynamics.
